Care Instructions

To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your Victorian Couture garments, we recommend following the care instructions provided on the garment’s care label.

As our collections feature a variety of fabrics and finishes, proper care may vary between products.

Before Washing

  • Always read the care label attached to your garment.
  • Separate light and dark colours before washing.
  • Fasten buttons, hooks, or zippers before cleaning.
  • Turn garments inside out to help protect delicate details and finishes.

Washing

  • Use a gentle detergent suitable for delicate garments.
  • Select the recommended washing method shown on the care label.
  • If machine washing is permitted, use a gentle or delicate cycle.
  • For garments with lace, embroidery, embellishments, or delicate trims, hand washing or the use of a mesh laundry bag is recommended whenever possible.

Drying

  • Follow the drying instructions on the care label.
  • Air drying is recommended for most garments to help maintain their shape and appearance.
  • Avoid excessive heat unless specifically permitted on the garment’s care label.

Ironing

  • Use the appropriate heat setting for the fabric.
  • If needed, iron garments inside out or place a pressing cloth between the iron and delicate fabrics or embellishments.
  • Steam may be used where suitable for the fabric.

Storage

  • Store garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Hang structured garments on suitable hangers.
  • Fold knitwear and heavier garments to help maintain their shape.
  • Avoid storing garments in damp environments.

Delicate Details

Garments featuring lace, embroidery, beading, sequins, appliqués, or other decorative elements should be handled with additional care during washing, drying, and storage to help preserve their appearance.

Natural Characteristics

Some fabrics may naturally develop slight variations in texture, colour, or finish over time with regular wear and laundering. These characteristics are part of the normal aging process of many textiles and are not considered manufacturing defects.
